Bio - Ocean Ananda Hillfon
I believe we are all connected and it’s important for me to feel that, with myself, people around me, nature, animals and the spirit world. The best way for me to connect with the divine is to spend time in nature or dance. I had a sense of this very early, growing up on the Swedish countryside. Having various animal friends I experienced life and death around me all the time. And I knew from an early age even though not consciously that I’m here to bridge the physical and the spiritual world.
As a teenager I found theatre. I studied acting for some years and in my 2o’s I joined a theatre group called Albatross. We toured in Sweden, Europe and The States. The director was inspired by the physical theatre pioneer Grotowski. It was with this theatre group I started to connect with my inner dancer and also the darkness. Every morning we started with Osho’s Kundalini meditaion. That was my first meeting with trance dance.
Rituals were a big part of a Leadership Training in Free Dance I attended 2000. I immediately felt at home in this language. As I see it, rituals are a language of the soul, just like the dance.
My theatre background blended with my new found dance practise and I began to create dance performances, often in collaboration with musicians.
Some years later I was asked to dance at a friends wedding and not long after that my grandmothers funeral and Moving Prayer was created.
I have performed at festivals, openings of exhibitions and other events and ceremonies of various kinds.
The summer 2016 I also became a facilitator in Trance Dance Rituals and I'm now running events in Sweden and beyond.
Writing is also a big part of my life. 2014 I published the poetry collection Natten föder pärlor and in 2017 I published the children's story The Bear Woman. For more info see seperate page / www.thebearwoman.com
